Pet Trusts

As of 2022, all 50 states and the District of Columbia have enacted pet trust laws. Such laws allow your beloved pets to be taken care of in the event of your death. Hill Hounds Animal Rescue & Sanctuary can provide you with a legal document prepared by our counsel that will ensure the well-being of your pets if there comes a time when you can no longer take care of them yourself.

Your Pet Trust will address such questions as:

  • Which pets are covered

  • Who becomes the legal caretaker of your pets

  • How much is monetarily allotted for your pet care

  • Caretaking instructions

  • Who is your pet's court-appointed advocate

  • What will become of any remaining monetary amounts in the event of your pet’s death

  • What happens if you can't take care of your pets before your death

Our legal counsel, Geri Lyons Chase, can help you navigate these questions and prepare a document for you that will protect your beloved pets. Don't leave your pets at risk if you are no longer able to care for them. Email us today at info@hillhounds.org

Ms. Chase is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America.

Dog Training Classes

We understand the importance of well-behaved and happy dogs. That's why we are thrilled to offer dog training classes to help you and your furry friend build a strong bond and learn essential obedience skills.

Our dog training classes are designed to cater to dogs of all ages and breeds. Whether you have a rambunctious puppy eager to learn or an older dog in need of some obedience refresher, experienced trainers are here to assist you every step of the way.

Our classes are structured to provide a positive and engaging learning environment for both you and your dog. We focus on using rewards-based techniques that reinforce good behavior, making the training experience enjoyable for everyone involved. We believe that positive reinforcement helps dogs learn faster and boosts their confidence throughout the training process.

We cover a wide range of obedience exercises and important life skills. From basic commands like sit, stay, and come, to leash manners and socialization, our trainers will work with you and your dog to ensure you have the tools needed to succeed in everyday situations.

In addition to obedience training, we also address common behavior issues such as jumping, chewing, and barking. Our trainers will provide you with effective strategies and techniques to overcome these challenges, helping your dog become a well-mannered and valued member of your household.

Moreover, our classes offer a fantastic opportunity for both you and your dog to socialize and interact with other canines and their owners. This environment not only helps to improve your dog's social skills but also allows you to network with fellow dog lovers who may share similar experiences and concerns.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of our furry friends. Therefore, our dog training classes have limited class sizes to ensure individual attention for each participant and maintain a manageable and controlled environment for training. We are committed to following current safety guidelines and protocols to safeguard the health of dogs and humans alike.

If you're interested in enrolling your dog in our training classes or want to learn more about our programs, please reach out to our friendly team. We'll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the registration process.

Investing time and effort into training your dog will not only improve their behavior but also strengthen the bond between you and your four-legged companion. Join us and let's embark on this exciting journey together towards a well-mannered, happy, and contented dog.
